3 TOP Things to Do in Bolivia

Bolivia is a beautiful country with unlimited number of breath-taking natural phenomenon. Though the average altitude of the country is between 3,000 & 4,000 meters above sea level and may cause you so called “sorroche” – the altitude sickness, it is still a highly recommended country to be visited.

In this article I am going to summarize top 3 things to do & see while backpacking through Bolivia.

TOP 1 – World famous salt flats of Uyuni

SALAR de UYUNI – so called Salt Flats of Uyuni represent the biggest salt flats of the world. It´s magical place where you can spend hours and hours enjoying the beauty of mother Earth and taking incredibly insane photos. While being in Uyuni, I booked a 3 day tour across salt flats and some practical information from my trip to Salar de Uyuni can be found here

TOP 2 – World famous Road of the Death

Very close to La Paz you can find the most dangerous road of the world – so called Death Road. Through local agencies you can book a day trip where you can bike all the road (around 50 km) and experience some adrenaline. Prices in 2015 were around 350 pesos bolivianos (BOB), of course after negotiation. But still expensive.

If you are a fan of speed, bikes & adrenaline, then this place is made just for you. 🙂

TOP 3 – Unknown but beautiful Eye of the Inca

Ojo del Inca – Eye of the Inca – natural hot spring, lake, lagoon (call it whatever you wish) is located around 25 km outside of Bolivian town called Potosi. It´s a place with almost no tourists as this place is not that famous and that´s why it is so magical. I took a small local “chicken bus” from Potosi with a cost of 5 BOB and I spent a beautiful afternoon at this lake with hot water and with the altitude above 3000 meters. Simply incredible.

If you are a fan of unknown but breath-taking natural beauty which is not spoilt by tourism, then Ojo del Inca is place just for you. 🙂

Which of above mentioned places would you go for??? 🙂

And maybe you would be also interested in Bolivian island of lake Titicaca called ISLA del SOL. Check it out. 🙂
